Here is a rough layout for the coming weeks so you have an idea, especially with your teaching component of the course. In short, know the purpose of Energy Activation & Release (EAR) and how to create your own Mindful Movement (MM) sequence.

WEEK 1 (last week)

  • Intro to Standing Meditation, Energy Activation and Release, and Qi of Joy

  • Q&A, What is Mindfulness, Hard vs Soft Qi Gong.

  • No homework

WEEK 2: Aug 8/9

  • Welcome Circle with friends that couldn't join us last week

Practices:

  • Hand Knocking and Toe Threading

  • 12-step Qi Clearing Sequence - sitting and standing versions

  • Digestive Sequence

  • Q&A

  • Dive deeper in Energy Activation & Release (EAR)

Homework:

  • In Hey Marvelous: watch all 6 "Theories" videos  - take notes in your manual.

  • Have a daily 10 to 15-minute self practicing, focusing on energy activation and release (EAR), and the Qi of Joy. If you're not sure, watch the course prep videos and practice along with me and then watch Video 2 on EAR in the Practice Review. We need to have a firm understanding of EAR for Week 3-5 for your teaching practicum.

  • Jot down your questions for our Zoom session.

WEEK 3: Aug 15/16

  • We take turns teaching one "energy activation and release" (EAR). Start to think about a practice that you enjoy for waking up the body. We'll each share one exercise in the big group - we won't Break Out into smaller groups on Zoom.

  • Practices: Guided Loving Kindness Meditation, Immunity Boost, Qi Walking. Review previous sequences, if time permits.

  • We'll discuss "how to create your own Mindful Qi Gong sequence"  (watch Video 6 in the Art of Teaching).

Homework: Watch all the Art of Teaching videos on Hey Marvelous, continue with your daily short or long practice, jot down your questions for our Zoom session.

WEEK 4 & 5: Aug 22/23 & 29/30

  • You teach a 20-minute practice to one other person in the Break Out room on Zoom. The 20 minutes include 10 minutes of EAR and 10 minutes of a Mindful Movement sequence that you design (watch Video 6 in the Art of Teaching), based on the 12-Step Qi Clearing Sequence & Qi of Joy.

  • Q&A

Homework: watch all of Art of Teaching videos in case you have questions when we meet on Zoom.

Space Required for Zoom Practice

Practical Component:
When we practice Qi Gong, please make sure you have a big enough space with a clear floor to move around. Stand with your arms extended out to the sides and turn around in a big circle with your arms extended. That’s the minimal space you’ll need for the practice. (-: Alternatively, if you create a cross with one yoga mat on top of another that should be a big enough space. We encourage you to find a space that is free from distractions i.e. invite your pets and family members into another room.

Theory Component:
Sitting at a desk is preferred for you to take notes when we share and go through some key theories and a Q&A session.
