A 25-Hour Immersive Training to Explore the Power of Touch
September 6-7 & September 27-28, 2025
Kingston, Ontario
Discover the transformative power of touch in your yoga teaching. Offering a hands-on assist can be anything from a simple grounding gesture to a deeply impactful, life-changing experience. Elevate your yoga teaching by learning the biomechanics behind effective hands-on assists—ranging from clear, technical support to subtle energetic guidance that can shift a student’s entire experience.
Offering hands-on support is a powerful tool for yoga instructors. When used thoughtfully, physical touch can enhance understanding of alignment and the deeper qualities of each pose. It also helps create a supportive, trusting environment where students feel seen and held. Approaching hands-on assists with intention and empathy not only supports your students—it also deepens your connection to the practice and strengthens your role as a responsive, inclusive teacher.
You'll develop your skills in a supportive, experiential setting—observing detailed demonstrations, taking notes, capturing reference photos, and practicing hands-on assists with partners of varying body types and sizes.
In this immersive training, you'll explore the art of assisting through the lens of clear communication and consent. You'll gain experience with hands-on adjustments for widely practiced postures, learn to embody a balance of strength and gentleness, and build confidence in your own authentic approach to touch. You'll discover how to:
Learn how to assist a variety of poses—including standing and balancing postures, seated forward folds, twists, backbends, foundational inversions, vinyasa transitions, and savasana
Observe and interpret both the physical structure and subtle energetic qualities of each pose
Cultivate a touch that is both intuitive and effective—grounded, clear, and responsive
Use props and smart body mechanics to support your own well-being while assisting, so you can avoid strain and sustain your energy
Join us to explore the somatic power of touch and unlock a new level of presence and connection in your class. We’ll also revisit the essentials of yoga anatomy to support safe, intuitive, and effective hands-on assists.
