Dear Mindfulness Friends,

A crisp sunny autumn smile to you. We are very excited to welcome you to mindfulness school, starting Wednesday, November 1 @ 5:30pm

Below are all the details for the course. We invite you to smile and enjoy your breathing as you read through them.

TIME
Wednesdays from 5:30pm to 7pm. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to each class and settle in so we can start on time.

LOCATION
The course will be held in Kingston East at KOPIFit, 812A John Marks Avenue, Kingston, Ontario K7K 7G1, Canada. It’s right beside Lovell Drugs store. There is plenty of free all-day parking around the building.

 

WHAT TO BRING
1) An open heart and a beginner’s mind.
2) A yoga mat/blanket and your favourite meditation cushion/chair to sit on.
3) A notebook and pens. We'll provide a toolkit (manual).
4) Water bottle - there is a water fountain in the building just outside of Kopifit.
5) A thermos & your favourite tea to keep warm and for tea drinking meditation with the group. We will have a kettle and a variety of tea if you don’t have a tea preference.
6) Kopifit has a no-outside shoes policy. For your comfort, bring along a pair of indoor shoes or slippers.

WHAT TO WEAR
Please wear comfortable loose-fit clothing ie. gym or yoga wear that covers your knees and torso. Please layer up in case the studio gets cold at night.

MOVEMENT
We’ll be moving with gentle Qi Gong practice at each session. We’ll also be sitting on the floor during meditation and discussion time. If you feel more comfortable sitting on a chair the studio has a few you are welcome to use. Else, there’s plenty of wall space for you to lean on for extra support.

** Please read at least the "Introduction" before the first class.

SCHEDULE

The content of each session may vary but the general structure is:
1) Dharma sharing: sharing our experience about the practice in our daily lives or asking questions.
2) Mindful movement with gentle stretching or Qi Gong
3) Walking meditation
4) Guided meditation
5) Tea Drinking Meditation
6) Dharma talk about the practices and theories of mindfulness

INJURIES & MEDICAL CONDITIONS
Please let us know via email if you have any injuries, limitations or medical conditions that we should be aware of. This will help us accommodate you at the course.

SCENT-FREE
For compassion for those with allergies, including Hang & Sarah, please come scent free – no perfume/cologne/scented products/essential oils. Thank you.

MISSED CLASSES
We encourage you to attend all six sessions. But we also do understand that life can happen to us all and you may need to miss a class or two. Let us know of your absence in advance when you can. This is so we can voice record the theory/lecture for you to catch up later on.
