I came away from this Qi Gong Teacher Training bubbling with new knowledge and my body singing for the joy of doing such quiet but effective exercises. This training is not to be missed! It can open the doorway for you to find inner peace and greatly improve your health.”
Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese wellness practice with roots stretching back thousands of years and closely connected to Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is a gentle, meditative practice that brings together movement, breath and awareness to cultivate Qi and support greater balance in body and mind. One of the beautiful things about Qi Gong is its simplicity. It can be practiced standing or sitting, almost anywhere, and even 10, 20 or 30 minutes can become a meaningful part of your day.
And did you know that the better-known Tai Chi is a form of Qi Gong? The practices we share at saigon om draw from both traditional and contemporary Qi Gong. As you progress through our teacher training pathway, you'll also explore Yang Tai Chi, including a short Yang-style sequence introduced in Level 2.
Traditional Chinese Medicine helps us understand another important dimension of the practice. We explore Qi, Yin-Yang, the Five Elements, meridians and the emotions traditionally associated with the organ systems. Through Qi Gong, we learn to recognise patterns of imbalance and explore practices that can help harmonise the energy and support a return towards balance.
Mindfulness is woven through everything we do at saigon om. Rather than simply performing movements, we learn to slow down, listen to the body and become more aware of our breath, energy, emotions and habitual patterns. These simple practices can naturally become part of everyday life. Our Qi Gong Teacher Training is a progressive journey, with each level building upon the foundations of the one before it. For this reason, Levels 1–4 are completed in sequence, beginning with Level 1.
History of Qi Gong
The ancient Chinese Taoists, scientists of the subtle energy body and alchemists of the soul’s journey, studied and worked with the circulation of Qi through coordinated flowing movements, deep rhythmic breathing, and meditation. Through subtle yet powerful Qi Gong exercises, meditations, and flowing movements, life-force energy is directed to specific parts of the body, and blocks in the energy body dissolve and radiant Qi flows smoothly into every dimension of the being - emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual.
Qi Gong (pronounced chee-goong) is a word that has several layers. "Qi" means energy or lifeforce. "Gong" means work or skill. Qi Gong, then, is a practice that cultivates and balances the qi.

Level 1 - Foundations of Qi Gong for Vitality (50 hours)
50 hours
Begin with the foundations.
Level 1 introduces the essential principles of Qi Gong through movement, breath, Traditional Chinese Medicine and mindful awareness. You’ll explore not only how to practice the movements, but why they work—developing a clearer understanding of Qi, meridians, energy cultivation and the relationship between movement and health.
Alongside building your own personal practice, you’ll learn the foundations of sequencing and teaching Qi Gong, with plenty of opportunities to explore, practice, reflect and teach in a supportive environment. You do not need to want to become a teacher to join Level 1. Come to deepen your own practice, or begin the journey towards confidently sharing Qi Gong with others.
What You’ll Explore
Foundations of Qi Gong and its relationship to Tai Chi, martial arts and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
An introduction to Qi, meridians and the movement of energy through the body
How breath, movement, intention and awareness work together
Foundational principles for safe, effective Qi Gong practice
How different practices can support vitality, circulation, emotional balance and overall wellbeing
How to observe and experience Qi rather than simply perform movements
How to modify movements for different bodies, abilities and levels of experience
Learning to Teach
Level 1 also introduces the art of sharing Qi Gong with others. You’ll explore:
How to structure and sequence a balanced Qi Gong class
How to create short sequences around a particular intention or theme
Clear and accessible ways to cue movement and breath
How to create a welcoming and supportive teaching environment
How to adapt practices for different students
Developing confidence through small-group practice teaching
Beginning to find your own authentic voice as a Qi Gong teacher
Teaching in the Real World
Learning to teach is also about learning how to bring your practice into the community. We’ll explore some of the practical foundations of stepping into the role of a Qi Gong teacher, including:
Establishing and running your own Qi Gong classes
Finding opportunities to begin sharing your practice
Simple ways to communicate and promote your offerings
Using digital marketing and social media to help people find your classes
Building confidence as you move from student to teacher

Level 2 — Build & Strengthen Your Qi
50 hours
Deepen the practice. Cultivate from within.
With the foundations of Level 1 established, Level 2 turns the practice inward.
You’ll move beyond learning the movements to explore how Qi is cultivated, strengthened and guided through the body. Through Qi Gong, Traditional Chinese Medicine, standing practice and Tai Chi, you’ll deepen your understanding of rooting, connection, relaxation and internal awareness.
The journey follows five principles: RELAX → ROOT → CONNECT → CULTIVATE → GUIDE. Rather than trying to create more effort, you’ll explore how releasing unnecessary tension, establishing your roots and connecting the whole body can create the conditions for Qi to flow more naturally.
Level 2 is also an invitation to deepen your presence as a teacher. Before we can guide others, we learn to cultivate ourselves. Through personal practice, reflection and teaching, you’ll continue developing the confidence, sensitivity and embodied understanding to share Qi Gong with greater clarity and compassion.
What You’ll Explore
The Three Treasures — Jing, Qi and Shen — and their relationship to vitality, energy and spirit
The principles of relaxing, rooting, connecting, cultivating and guiding
How physical structure and grounding influence stability, movement and internal awareness
The role of the feet and Yongquan (KD1) in rooting and energetic connection
How Traditional Chinese Medicine understands Qi, meridians and patterns of balance and imbalance
The relationship between physical, energetic and emotional wellbeing from a TCM perspective
How breath, awareness, intention and movement can support the cultivation and circulation of Qi
An introduction to Wu Chi and Zhan Zhuang as standing practices for structure, awareness and internal cultivation
Yin and Yang as practical principles that can be experienced through movement and everyday life
Moving from simply performing a form towards feeling and embodying the practice
Learning to Teach
Level 2 develops the teacher alongside the practitioner. As your own practice deepens, you’ll explore how to guide others with greater sensitivity, clarity and presence.
Teaching from your own embodied experience rather than simply repeating instructions
Mindful cueing that gives students space to explore and feel
Observing the individual rather than expecting every body to move in the same way
Helping students experience success while respecting their abilities and limitations
Knowing when to offer guidance — and when to allow space for discovery
Creating an environment grounded in compassion, kindness and non-judgement
Supporting students to deepen their practice without forcing an experience
Continuing to develop your own authentic voice and presence as a Qi Gong teacher
At this level, teaching becomes less about having all the answers and more about learning how to observe, listen and guide.
Practices
Your Level 2 practice toolkit expands to include:
Qi Gong Warm-Ups & Energy Activation
Toes & Feet Energy Opening
Six Healing Sounds (Liu Zi Jue)
Five Treasures Qi Gong
Deeper Dive into Wu Chi & Zhan Zhuang
8-Form Yang Style Tai Chi
Introduction to Push Hands
The introduction of Tai Chi and Push Hands gives you another way to explore rooting, whole-body connection, sensitivity and the relationship between your own centre and another person.
Practice → Reflect → Teach
As in Level 1, you’ll have opportunities to experience the practices yourself before sharing them with others.
Through individual exploration, partner work, reflection and small-group teaching, you’ll begin noticing the difference between knowing a movement intellectually and understanding it through your own body.
This becomes increasingly important as you progress towards Levels 3 and 4.
Bonus Practice
Sound Healing for Rest & Recovery
Explore the therapeutic qualities of sound as a simple practice for rest, relaxation and recovery. You’ll experience how vibration, sound and mindful listening can help settle the body and mind, release tension and create space for deeper rest.
This practice offers another way to explore the relationship between vibration, awareness and Qi, while providing a gentle tool that can complement your personal practice and teaching.
“When Hang recently visited Australia and was offering a Qi Gong Teacher Training, I saw it as an opportunity I could not miss. Being aware of Hang’s own extensive studies, experiences, and deeply compassionate nature, I knew that I could learn so much from just from being in her presence. It was such a beautiful six days of learning and growth set in a very welcoming and supportive environment. The training provided me with a better understanding of my body, its organs and the health benefits of the mindful movements through the practice of Qi Gong.
Hang is warm, joyful, encouraging and brings light-heartedness and humour into the room. She was extremely generous with her time and of sharing her deep knowledge and wisdom with us all. She genuinely does live from her heart, you feel nothing but joy when in her presence and it was evident Hang just wanted to share her knowledge, so we may all live a life that is nurturing to our mind, body and soul. I highly recommend anyone wanting to improve their overall health & wellbeing or interested in teaching Qi Gong to sign up for Hang’s training. On completing the course my heart was full!”
“I’m so pleased to have had the opportunity to study with Hang and discover the lineage of the Qi Gong. Hang’s curiosity and passion for Qi Gong, Chinese Medicine and energy meridians was shared in the course and gave me so much insight into the wholistic approach of this practice. Even more, her research into current science related to fascia and meridians was fascinating.
Hang was so joyful, patient and encouraging in bringing out our teaching skills and giving us room to refine and develop our sequences in an organic and empowering way. I’m deeply grateful to have been able to have listened and learned from Hang’s abundant wisdom around Qi Gong. I feel very privileged to continue her lineage of Qi Gong to others on my own teaching journey.”
About Hang Nhan
Qi Gong Educator • Teacher Trainer • Co-Founder of saigon om
Hang’s path to Qi Gong began through more than 20 years of martial arts, movement and teaching. Her early years were spent training and competing in external martial arts, including Taekwondo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Kung Fu and Kali. After years of pushing her body — and accumulating injuries along the way — she began looking for a more sustainable way to cultivate strength, health and longevity.
That search led her to Qi Gong and Yang Tai Chi, first in Canada and later in southern China, where she spent two years from 2006–2008 deepening her study of the internal arts at the root school of Choy Li Fut.
Today, Hang’s work brings together traditional Qi Gong, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), mindfulness and movement science. She is particularly interested in helping students understand the why behind the practice — how Qi moves through the body, how TCM views the relationship between the organs, emotions and energy, and how Qi Gong can help harmonize these patterns and bring the body-mind back towards balance.
Her ongoing studies include Five-Element Acupressure, alongside years of exploration in anatomy, biomechanics, fascia, injury prevention and mindful movement.
A former engineer, school teacher, personal trainer and martial arts instructor, Hang brings an educator’s curiosity to everything she teaches. Her approach is practical, inclusive and down-to-earth: learn the movements, understand the principles, feel them in your own body, and discover how the practice can become part of everyday life.
Through saigon om, Hang now focuses primarily on Qi Gong education and Teacher Training Levels 1–4, supporting practitioners and wellness professionals who want to move beyond simply following Qi Gong movements towards a deeper understanding of the practice.
And when she’s not chasing after her two young rambunctious children, Hang can usually be found stealing little pockets of quiet to work on her first Qi Gong book — a project that, much like Qi Gong itself, is teaching her something about patience, persistence and going with the flow.
