WHAT IS FASCIA?

Fascia is a connective tissue that supports organs, blood vessels and nerves, forming a flexible web for muscles and bones.

Fascia can be negatively impacted in several instances – physical or emotional trauma, scarring, or inflammation, and even every day stressful situations will cause fascia to become tight, causing stress on the rest of the body. Because of the interconnected nature of fascia, consistent poor posture or repetitive movement patterns can cause our body to hold more tension, and be less flexible, which can lead to anxiety and stress, and even injury.

Keeping fascia healthy keeps our mind and body healthy.

2-DAY YIN YOGA TRAINING

Saturday, February 16 & 23, 2019
11am-5pm
Pilates & Yoga Styles, 151 Pakington St, Geelong West, Victoria, Australia
Investment $300 AUD

Yin yoga is much more than holding the poses for long periods, it's about revealing our true nature and understanding the energetic pathways of the body (meridians).

This two-day training is designed for both dedicated yoga practitioners and yoga teachers to deepen their Yin yoga practice and knowledge. The training explores Yin anatomy, sequencing, safety in postures, an introduction to meridian theory, and mindfulness.

yin-yoga-training-pilates-and-yoga-styles-geelong-west-victoria-australia

The long-held postures of Yin yoga provide a welcome contrast to the more modern Western world dynamic Yang dominated practices. Yin creates the space to activate the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) and the longer holds work to unwind the body’s deeper layers of fascia and joints.

YIN YOGA:

  • Encourages us to slow down and cultivates stillness to get to know ourselves.

  • Explores the philosophies of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the internal energetic pathways, known as meridians or nadis, that carry Qi/Prana or life force.

  • Creates the conditions to release deeply held tension in the body and mind.

TOPICS INCLUDE:

  • Yin Yoga: Theory and Practice

  • Background and lineage of Yin Yoga

  • Yin Asana: method of instruction, benefits, cautions & modifications of Yin Yoga poses

  • Physiology: Anatomy & Biomechanics of Yin Yoga

  • Physical and mental benefits of Yin Yoga

  • Energetic Anatomy: Chakras & Meridian Theory and how they apply to Yin Yoga

  • Practical Application: Basic Yin poses and how to create sequences based on meridian energy channels

  • Bringing mindfulness into the Yin Yoga practice

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

  • Training certificate

  • Comprehensive course manual

Saturday/Sunday 8:30am-5pm
Prerequisite: Immersion 1
Investment: $400 USD or VND equivalent
Location: Mandala Wellness - 41 Tran Ngoc Dien, District 2, HCMC

Qi Gong is a 4000 year-old ancient Chinese discipline that has its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Tai Chi is derived from Qi Gong. They are both disciplines that involve the mind, breath, and movement to create a calm, natural balance of energy that can be used in work, recreation or self-defense.

There many styles of Qi Gong and Tai Chi. The Qi Gong practices we'll be sharing with you are a combination of traditional and modern Qi Gong. The three most popular Tai Chi styles are Yang, Wu, and Tai Chi Chih. The style we teach and practice at saigon om is the short Yang style, which includes 32 movements in its simple form (108 movements in the traditional form).

By the end of both immersions, you will learn a handful of Qi Gong tools and sequences to help release and activate your Qi for a deeper spiritual practice, as well as the first third of the Yang Tai Chi sequence with a deeper understanding of this energetic and physical practice.

Unlike yoga, Qi Gong and Tai Chi are done in slow movements while standing up. It is ideal for people of all ages.

This course will also include how to integrate mindfulness in our daily lives. Mindfulness is the energy of being aware and awake to the present moment. To be mindful is to be truly alive, present and at one with ourselves and with those around us. When we learn the art of mindful living; enjoying our breath, our steps, and the many wonders that each moment offers us, we nourish our happiness and our capacity to be present. Research has indicated that a mindful lifestyle can reduce stress & anxiety, cultivate joy, inner peace and overall well-being.

IN IMMERSION 2, YOU WILL LEARN:

  • Philosophy of Taoism - yin & yang

  • Martial arts and self-defense applications of Qi Gong & Yang Tai Chi

  • Movements, postures, directions in Qi Gong & Tai Chi

  • Healing aspects of Qi Gong, as used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) energetic meridians

  • How "Qi" flow, or lack there of, can cause and effect physical and emotional imbalances and balances

  • Energy activation and release in hand and foot reflexology

  • Acupressure points to release tension

  • Formal and informal mindfulness practices and how to incorporate mindfulness into your daily life

2-Day Yin Yoga Training in HCMC, Vietnam

yin-yoga-training-meditation-mindfulness-kingston-ontario-canada

Dates: Tue, Oct 9 & Wed, Oct 10, 2018
Time: 8:30am - 2:30pm
Location: Mandala Wellness, 41 Tran Ngoc Dien, District 2, HCMC
Investment: $300 USD or VND equivalent

Yin yoga is much more than holding the poses for long periods, it's about revealing our true nature and understanding the energetic pathways of the body (meridians).

This two-day training is designed for both dedicated yoga practitioners and yoga teachers to deepen their Yin yoga practice and knowledge. The training explores Yin anatomy, sequencing, safety in postures, an introduction to meridian theory, and mindfulness.

  • Yin Asana: method, cautions & modifications of yin poses

  • Physiology: Anatomy & Biomechanics of Yin Yoga

  • Energetic Anatomy: Chakras & Meridian Theory

  • Mindfulness Cues

  • Practical Application: Basic Yin poses and how to create sequences based on meridian energy channels

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

  • Certificate of Completion

  • Yin Yoga Workbook Manual

WHO CAN ATTEND THIS TRAINING?

  • Yoga practitioners at all levels who'd like to deepen their yin yoga knowledge and practice.

Wednesday, August 15, 6-8pm
Full Circle Health Network, 4 Cataraqui Street, Kingston, Ontario
Investment $40

This event has sold out! We're delighted to hold another 2-hour workshop on August 14

Join us for this 2-hour workshop to learn how fascia can restrict our movement and how to work with the body to create strength, flexibility, freedom and space.

Fascia release is gentle, sustained pressure on the soft tissue (fascia) resulting in releasing & lengthening of the fascia.

WHAT IS FASCIA?

Healthy Fascia = Healthy Body & Mind

On the list of most important body parts, right next to the skeleton, comes a less known, but equally as important structure called, fascia. Fascia is comparable to the white “pith” of an orange. Like the white stringy material that holds the slices of an orange together, fascia connects everything in the body together. On a more scientific note, fascia is a connective tissue that supports organs, blood vessels and nerves, forming a flexible web for muscles and bones.

During fascial release, pressure is applied to the connective tissue in numerous forms including block work, ball work, and rolling.

Yin Yoga Training in Kingston, Ontario

Date: Saturday, July 28, 2018
Time: 9am - 5pm

This one-day training is designed for both yoga teachers and dedicated yoga practitioners to deepen their Yin yoga practice and knowledge. The training explores Yin anatomy, sequencing, safety in postures, an introduction to meridian theory, and mindfulness.

The long-held postures of Yin yoga provide a welcome contrast to the more modern Western world dynamic Yang dominated practices. Yin creates the space to activate the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) and the longer holds work to unwind the body’s deeper layers of fascia and joints.

YIN YOGA:
~ Encourages us to slow down and cultivates stillness to get to know ourselves.
~ Explores the philosophies of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the internal energetic pathways, known as meridians or nadis, that carry Qi/Prana or life force.
~ Creates the conditions to release deeply held tension in the body and mind.

TOPICS INCLUDE:
~ Yin Yoga: Theory and Practice
~ Yin Asana: method, cautions & modifications of yin poses
~ Physiology: Anatomy & Biomechanics of Yin Yoga
~ Energetic Anatomy: Chakras & Meridian Theory
